Could also be that just the 50mm will get an update and then the set will come back up.
But since Jarred posted his "get them while you still can" I think this is bigger.

Those are the times when I don't like the RED silence... ;)

    Amen!

While the 18-50 was replaced by the "brilliant" 17-50, the 50-150 has been long overdue for a remake...
I have always been fan of compact zooms, as most of my jobs require me carrying my own gear to remote places and to work fast. With the Duclos 11-16, RED RPZ 17-50 and new RPZ 50-150 - I would switch to PL mount no questions asked...

They previously announced a couple of electronic zooms, stabilized, FF35, f2.8
3 zooms in the range between 15 and 200 plus a 300 and 2 extenders.
and also, not to forget, the 645 and the 617 lenses ;)

but still the announced were zooms. and just deleting the primes doesn't make sense, if they sell like hotcakes, as Jarred somewhat implied.
so the range will most probably be stocked with new primes. maybe electronic primes, too....

I was just about to pull the trigger on the full set when they started to disappear. Clearly the choice was RPPs or Panchros. Now I'll have to wait. Jim warned there would be magnificent things ahead. I suggest we all buckle up.

Before Jarred's comment we would have to consider the possibility that lens supply was down due to a material shortage or other accidental manufacturing shortfall. "Get them while you can", even minus the trademarked He He He is telling. If stock is down it is by design. Something is coming, can't wait to see what it is.

get them while you can, doesnt it mean, the thing coming after them is worse?
wouldnt it be more like, -wait we get hot new shit - if some new primes would be better?
maybe its my english, but this is what i understand.
red is not a color, it's a camera.

If they have inventory to sell before new stock comes in, wouldn't it be a mistake for him to advise people not to buy?

New and improved lenses wouldn't make the current RPP's any less good, so if you want them, get them while you can.

Peter, for my personal projects i grab the zoom, sidehandle and thats it.
so the duclos 11-16 is PL,
    does it cover 5k2:1?
i shoot in scope anyway, so no need for 5kFF.
Which T-Stop and how much does this lens cost?
    thanks

    didnt see it that way.
if i would be in the prime buyers seat i would like to know if new better primes are around the corner.
its not like computers where you know there will be something better next week.
But possibly the new primes will be more expensive because of better
mechanics, then for the budget concious buyer its important to get them while he can.

2.8 and it costs little over $3K (http://www.ducloslenses.com/products/duclos-11-16mm)
You can get it in different mounts...
Only have shot with it in 4K (Scarlet's limitation). I am renting this lens for now - as they are on a massive backorder (5-6 months). When I have it next time - I will check the coverage in 5K
