Hellya! Thunderbolt MBP to RedStation.

Isn't the drive slowing the process down though? Is thunderbolt just too fast for the speed of the SSD mag? Anyone know the numbers?

And FW800 is a bit slower than the SSD mags?

Too bad this didn't came out few days earlier, I would had loved not to carry the Original bigger ones in my Bag all the way to Brazil.

It's not only smaller with all the same features but $60 bucks cheaper too. If you want to wait, I'll buy your redstation used.

That's a pretty big window between 180-280. Why the 100MB flux?

The REDMAG operates at between 180-280 MB/s. eSATA II is capable of transferring data at 285 MB/s.

Ouch, you are going to use LaCie drives for important files? iTunes, a few pictures, maybe some games. LaCie customer service can be terrible in the misfortune event of the driving going out on your or works irregularly.

Actually according to Lacie, if you daisy chain their drives you can get up to 800MB/sec

Couldn't agree more. Firewire has been great, FW1600+ would have been great, especially if they used the same I/O as the FW800s.

Portable drives that you need to plug into the wall is just plain retarded.

I almost wish Firewire grew up instead of meeting its death ( or near death ).. i really think it was a great interface for many reasons.. it just never took the next step for speed.

So let us see if the PC guys (when the thunderbolt doors are opened to them) can make it a winner.. right now it is just not there yet.
