Somebody using the CineformRAW codec in his RED-Workflow?
Pre-RED, I've used Cineform NeoScene for all my HD VFX/Post-Work and now I am
thinking about buying the Cineform 4K-Edition. Any Experiences?

Since moving over to Premiere, replacing the mobo on the workstation and adding a Red Rocket I've skipped that stage and just stay in R3D all the way. Right now I'm answering this thread on a machine that is rendering straight from 4K R3D to 3Mbps 720P H.264. The 14 minute cut is forecast to take 50 minutes to render. That's not much considering that in the old days I would have had to render the 1.5 hours worth of material overnight if I wanted to transcode to Cineform.

    Hey Sascha,
We are Cineform users in the Adobe Suite, but the native support for R3D files has us working in R3D all the way until final render. It was great when we were using Sony EX3s and 5D MIIs, but now we stay in RED Raw all the way. With a Quadro 4000 video card, we are easily ably to edit at quarter resolution with real time playback including heavy post effects.

If 4K is needed, we plan to render out in Cineform 4K for clients that have a 4K display and a box robust enough to play a 4K Cineform file. So far haven't had the opportunity. We are hoping to get our hands on a 4K display soon.

    Thanx for the insights.

I normally edit in premiere, open locked-down edit in aftereffects for VFX and CC, integrate the Tracks coming back from
Audiodepartment (which actually is myself sitting nextdoor on my ProToolsSystem ;-) and render a Master.
From this Master i spit out all the Deliverables. To keep the highest possible Master- and Archive-Quality i need CineformRAW.
Sometimes I render out Intermediate-Footage and it would be good if I could keep 4k here as well. Especially for my
VFX Projects it is critical to stay on highest Quality until the very End.

Also, AfterEffects can't process HDRx with Magic Motion (and doesn't provide all the Goodies like Alchemy etc. either ;-)
So I have to do this in REDCINE X and render out a CineformRAW to go further down the Pipeline.

Well this is what i layed out and right now im testing other options ... but i keep getting back on the
Cineform-Route. But I never worked with their 4K-Workflow. I guess i just have to buy and try ;-)

I think you will be very satisfied with the quality of the Cineform 4K render. The upgrade from Neo is only $49 so it is definitely worth a shot. They also have a try before you buy, so it is pretty much risk free. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
    Cheers,
