Apologies if I have missed a previous post with regard to this question.

Does the original RED One EVF work with the Scarlet?

    Thanks Hiroe

It depends on the firmware of the EVF. Some work, some don't...
Just remember that the older EVF is a lot bigger then the Scarlet herself and "almost" as heavy...

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

Can the Firmware be updated or does it need to be done via a RED ONE?

    Thanks H

At one point it seemed that very few EVFs worked with EPIC; it seems that the camera firmware has got a lot smarter since early days and now most (?all??) EVFs work just fine with EPIC/Scarlet. I've certainly heard of few or none not working in recent months.

If it doesn't work, the EVF needs its firmware upgraded. That can't be done by the customer, it can only be done at RED; contact RED support.

I test one EVF with an Epic, works but IMHO due to diferent bit deeps we can see a lot of banding (posterization), but for focus/frame is about good enough.

Our mid-production EVF is obviously one of the ones that don't work - just get a red flashing screen (unless there is a dumbie setting that I missed!!!!)
