With the latest update from Jim does this mean the 300mm lense will be shipping with the first 100 cameras?

My biggest concern with my setup is still lenses and I'm truely hoping RED will bring out a quality set of T1.3 prime lenses.

I do hope that the Zoom lense will be here by this year maybe even earlier than the projected time frame. For now, we'll be renting 35mm lenses instead of buying still lenses..

Can't let the Cinematography.com guys get you ruffled... I'm not sure what the deal is with that site. It reminds me of the SGI usenet groups of the early to mid '90s. Everyone has such a superiority complex and they all have this little clique going. Change is in the air, but most stick their heads in the sand and shrug it off. Like the SGI forums of yesteryear, high-end graphics work was shifting more and more to PC and other cheaper platforms and Intel CPUs were blowing right past the MIPS offerings in terms of production cycles and Spec benchmarks. I heard/read every desperate attempt at denial from the entrenched SGI crowd. Even a number of them that would say things like "PeeCees are inferior and always will be because they're little-endian. SGI is big-endian."

But hey, times change, technology changes. Some embrace it right away, others don't. In the end, we're all headed to the same place and at this time next year, RED will probably be well accepted at those other forums and there will be a lot of naysayers wishing they had put down a reservation. It's not just RED that's regarded this way. Those cinematography.com guys are skeptical and critical of anything new, be it a new camera, fluid head or start-up company making cable wraps and gaffer's tape. That probably speaks volumes as to why a great number of them there are shooting with 20+ year old 16mm equipment and still act like it's the best gear there is.
