Luca, after talking to Manfrotto distribution we´ve just ordered the 509HD/536K combo today. We already own the 504 head for DSLR and I think it´s a good price/performance.

    Cheers, Ulf

It's just because I'm lazy! (And frankly I don't like to plug and unplug cables 2 or more times per day - especially the fragile LCD /EVF connector - )
But I would buy the swat rail, with sliding top handle or the swat rail clamp bolt on).

    ;-)

    Anyone tried it?
Or other products to suggest (in this € range please!)

    Thanks,

Congratulations Luca! Nice to see another Scarlet-X in northern Italy :D. As for the Manfrotto 509HD, I can't recommend it enough. It's nothing like the old Manfrotto heads, a huge leap forward (I'd say it's as good, or in some cases better than a lot of heads costing 5x times more), you won't be disappointed. I personally use the 509HD + 545GB combo.

    Hi Riccardo,
    Can you recommend an alternative?
    And this? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...HD_System.html

For me, an alternative, albeit more expensive, would be the Miller Compass 25 or the even more expensive Cartoni Delta Rosso. These two were my first choices, but then I tested the 509 and I was so impressed with it, and considering the price (600,00 euros inc. vat), I ordered one straight away. As for the sticks, since you're building a backpack system, you should really check the Manfrotto 536 carbon, you'll find some information in Phil Holland's post http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthr...l=1#post954112

I'll let you know if I come by, last time I got from Piran to Verona in 2 hours (by car). Or if you want to visit Istria let me know.

If you want a two stage, there's a thread where Phil Holland was looking for one. Steve Gibby suggested the Miller Sprinter II. The other ones Phil is considering are the OConnor 30L

I suggested the 536 Carbon Manfrotto Singles to him, which he now got for his Scarlet, and seems to be really happy with.
