    Kinda seems that way...

Not sure what the point is... Some things that are in high demand, like the Ti Canon mount or DSMC Side Handle, are often being sold at a premium. Now I think that asking double is kinda messed up, I've known plenty to sell at about regular price. Shop around, it's not like they're that scarce or hard to find. If you don't like the price that someone is asking, then don't do business with them. Problem solved.

Likewise, having just been through selling a RED One camera, the vast majority of offers or inquiries I received were ridiculously low. At first I was shocked when the first offer rolled in, offering $7K for what normally sells used for $25K and would cost nearly $48K new... By the time I sold the camera, for a reasonable price, I had received so many of the low-ball, please help out a starving film student offers that I was totally desensitized of it. And even though I held out for a reasonable price, it was just that, reasonable. It probably should have sold for more, but there's a lot of people out there who are apparently desperate to sell such things. ...Supply and demand. As Joel says.

Germany introduced price fixing in order to protect consumers and small businesses!

The theory being that if prices are not fixed then (for example) a large supermarket can come into an area, reduce the price of bread way below cost, hence forcing small bakeries to close, then raise the prices once they no longer have any competition.

That is one of the reasons I prefer living in Germany to the UK or USA. They seem to have a concern for society, rather than just for large businesses making profits.

    Chris ...

If you're surprised by some people's capacity to exploit a shortage, you really need to get out more.

Haha Peter you're the man ;) Yeah I get the point here, so many people have said the EXACT same thing. Kind of obvious since I wasn't saying "you're forcing me to pay this mwaahhh" haha. But rather asking opinions on how others felt. I really wanted a discussion, not a resolution. It was a fact, and was stated as such.

I am sincerely grateful for everyone's opinion! I have had somewhat of a reality check from all of these comments! I didn't expect this to drone on for so long though. This post was just 10% of my really bad week, so I was just sharing my frustrations. Cheers everyone! Go shoot something! ( with your RED of course...)

Interesting... however there is a fundamental difference between government regulation and price fixing in a free market. One enables the economy to survive, the other cripples it. :-) I don't state that to be dogmatic, or political BTW.

OK, fine.... I was going to leave it open until the religious discussion and/or the comparing of members here to Nazi figureheads started. But you talked me into it.
