First shoot with Epic

Got my Epic#1978 on 28th Feb.

On that very day I installed the Canon EOS mount - painless and impressive.

However it kept freezing. I think it was related to the 5" touchscreen monitor because as soon as I installed the side handle and started controlling the menu from there - NO FREEZING after that.

Two days later I shot my first commercial with it. The HDMI output started 'blacking'. It would randomly stop showing video. So I went into the Monitor options and switched the output option from 'Auto' to '720p'. Problem solved.

What can I say about Epic and Canon mount - AMAZING! On both days we must have shaved off at least 90 minutes of shooting time 'coz we were moving so fast. Setups were painless. For once the size of the camera was not getting in the way of the shoot. I can't praise RED enough. What a tool! What a tool!

Auto rez can often cause handshaking problems - but they are most often seen on a monitor with HDCP protection. Anyway 720p is fine for focus pulling and framing.
