    hey guys,

so we just received our red epic and we shot some test shots at 300fps. after playback on the monitor and later in post it was apparent that there was noticeable noise throughout the entire image. Camera was black shade calibrated.

    my settings were the following:

    resolution: 2k WS
    ISO: 400
    fps: 300
    color temp: 5600
    compression: 7:1

Is the footage at 2k a lot noisier than 5k? or is something wrong/am I doing something wrong?

    EDIT:

it was a daylight exterior with plenty of light

    thanks,

There is definitely going to be more noise at 2K (using a smaller part of the sensor).
Are you giving the sensor enough light?

    Caio Brandon,
Epic is made for the 5k.
At 2k 300 using a smaller part of the sensor, is normal to have more noise, especially in the absence of light.

Just apply a normal curve to give your self some contrast and actual blacks. If you don't crush the blacks just a tad you are gong to get what you have, which is flat footage with a little noise.
