Precision Epic macro moco shoot / one take.

We where happy to service I-Reel down in Paris with our milo and Epic for this production. Basically a 5 long day shoot under the milo fiesta flag. Can only say that at this date there is no camera that comes close to the epic for precision camera work like this. I also love the DoP's decision to shoot everything with a black pro mist filter it makes the epic look more film than film.

It was a great shoot, The I-reel guys are such a nice team. We did another moco work with them a few years back, then with the Red One MX.

Check the video cable hanging of from the camera in those scenes... and ask we i we would like the wireless HD module...

Loved your take on the Black Pro Mist. Any other filters you've found work great on EPIC? Now that we have our two Scarlets in, I'm very interested in the various types of filtration that can take this camera into interesting new directions. I'm thinking of Antique Suede, Smoke, Black Magic, etc.

I wonder if a same result could actually be achieved by using a technodolly, to me it looks like they share partly the same purpous, maby being so that the milo might have more axisses,
but, would it actually be possible using a technodolly to do such a job. if not, could someone please explain the main differences...?

You could use the tecno dolly but it is no way near as precise as the milo. If you look at the two in terms of spec they look pretty much the same. But the Mark Roberts rigs are Built to be rigid in a way no other rigs are. When doing macro work even high frequency jitter is showing quite heavily. The Techno dolly is built to make big moves and not have things so close to the lens. Then the small shakes does not show. The milo on the other hand can make repeated moves super slow (like moving a few mm a minute if wanted) then you eliminate all the gitter.
So it's both the torision box construction of the milo in combination with the oscar awarded flair controller that makes the huge difference.
