I guess you could say we're kind of doing that. I look at it more like a "buyer's club"

The reason I and others dislike the touch is, well, touch. The idea of smudging up a screen you'll then have to frame and judge focus on makes little sense to many. If this loupe can flip up in seconds, allowing camera control, then flip back into place for immediate shooting, it has potential. If the focal plane can somehow be set just past the physical edge of te 5.6 display-- literally at the panel instead of on the touchscreen layer on top of the panel--it could be great. This would throw te smudges right out of focus.

If on the other hand it magnifies the smudges and makes accessing camera settings a 40-second rather than instant task...

The other problem we saw with the z-finder, LCDVF etc was screen resolution on one camera vs another. The 5.6 touch is a fairly low-res display, I think 800x600? With even a little magnification, focus pulling becomes miserable and your image is an impressionist painting of little pixels.

I was planning on buying the TVLogic / Alphatron EVF and the new Red 7.0 monitor Jarred mentioned. If you manage to pull this off I might pass on both and get a 5.6 Touch...

    Ryan,
I hear ya. all I can tell you is that when we do the video, I will be very sure to answer these concerns. And I will show you the various forms of operation. Cameras are as much about the misc gear as they are about the cameras themselves.. This is why we do in-depth videos on Gear as well as the camera. And I want to point out, that we do NOT do overviews. Everybody does overviews.. That's cool.. I like 'em.. But whenever possible we will show you HOW to operate it and how to install it.

This will certainly be the case with this product. By the time the vid is done, 90% of your questions should be answered. (Too humble to say 100%).

Looks like this will be a great "group buy" item.
Not counting the video tutorials, this is going to be one of the main focuses of InfoTech Academy. Our Academy is PERFECT for group buys. Think about it, our membership are a PAYING group of camera owners who are interested in new gear for their rigs.. Because it's a paying membership, I represent their interests and fight to get the lowest price available for them. I also have personal relationships with a lot of these guys, so they want to work with us, cause we want them to be successful. I have kept this program kind of quiet, cause without the support of those who make the gear, it does not stand a chance of working.. The good news is that so far, everybody loves the idea.. One such vendor said "Since you have a private, paid membership I can sell things for prices that I may not want to give to the general public". I see a real future here. Since we're less than $90 for three months.. I expect there will be no trouble getting this to pay for itself and more.. Not to mention sometimes getting the gear BEFORE everyone else, and not having to wait forever.

Jason stepped up and did it first.. And for this, everyone at Infotech, Instructors, and members alike own him a debt of gratitude.

Great idea if you need an EVF but means you can leave the side handle at home if you have a rear batt mount.

Just flip the loupe up if you need to change any setting or show someone the shot then flip it back down. looks like a simple idea made good.
can't wait to try it out
