  1. #1 EPIC Power Flow
Today I've tried what happened if I had a RedVolt in the DSMC Side Handle and a Brick in the Brain. I thought (reading the manual) that once the Brick has run out of power, the Brain would take the energy from the RedVolt in the Side Handle...

But that's not what happened. The Camera just turned off and needed to be restarted. Am I wrong assuming the power drain should flow so I could hot swap the Brick in the V-mount while the camera is "feeding" from the Side Handle's RedVolt?

Must I do something for this to happen or am I doing something wrong?

    Cheers!

    Hi Jordi

    You are not wrong.

Next time you try this combination, be sure to power up your camera from the REDVOLT first, and THEN plug in the the BRICK.

Let us know how that goes.

I keep a fresh redvolt in the side handle and a v-lock on the back. I just power up with both attached - presumably the camera powers up from the v-lock, but I can then hot-swap that without any problem.

    Thanks Joe!

I'm gonna try this and tell you how it goes. Any idea why does this work this way and not powering up from the Red Brick?

Mark, I'm also gonna try this. So, as I get from both experiences, the only way you cannot keep with the hotswapping is if you turn the camera on from the Red Brick and then introduce a RedVolt?

    Cheers!

Ok, already tried both and none of them worked out: every time I try to change the V-lock battery the camera powers off.

@Joe: I turned on the camera with the RedVolt in the Side Handle and then plug the V-lock. Good news when the power indicator changes to the "Brick", but then, once again, when trying to remove the V-lock the camera turns off.

@Mark: Tried to turn it on with the both plugged in (my first trial was without the RedVolt) but still have the same problem.

I'm in Build 3.0.0 and I'm using a 2B-to-1B adaptor for the Cradle. Any idea why this doesn't work for me?

    Cheers!

I just posted this in another thread, but I just got my sidehandle back from red today (sent in for this very issue) and now it's working correctly. So file a ticket an see about sending it in for repair.

    Thanks Matthew.

I did as you said and RED asked me to send the Side Handle back to the U.S. Headquarters (which is kind of a bummer for us in Europe...) but they have been very fast and responsive. Also they confirmed it' not a firmware problem, so no point in waiting to send it to them. I'll post once I get it back so you people can find out if this works well.

I'd like to thank Felipe Mozqueda who has taken care of this really nice and fast! God I love this company's costumer service!

    Cheers!
