HELP : EPIC-X with no Red monitor ... HD-SDI feed to monitor with MENU ?

Trying to help out a friend who is on location (stuck on a boat) without a RED monitor (LCD or ECF) ... had to re-install firmware and now does not have MENUs visible.
Is there a trick to get the menus back ? Manual seems to suggest that MENUs are fed to the SDI feed when no RED monitor is attached.

This is true, but it may need to be set that way. Let me ask you this.. Does he have a side handle?

If he has a side handle.. There may be a solution, but it will be a rather difficult one. You would need to boot up the camera, then give him the sequence of button pushes he would need to make in order to engage the menus on the montitor.

Kind of like talking a blind man through landing a plane.. Only a little easier.. And not as dangerous! :)

No only RedMote and I have supplied the list of key strokes just as you suggest ... and I've sent instructions via SMS ! crazy ... obviously would be sooooooooooooooo much easier if he had a Red monitor, but nope ...
[EDIT : had hoped that there would be some key-combination that would pop up menus ... but cannot see anything in the manual]
