:-)
a few wishes have been heard, 3k 50 fps and hdrx for europeans at 25 fps are still remaining unheard...
ws and 2:1 in all resolutions will come hopefully in the next firmware releases.
cheers
great update came today, but:
still no 3k 50fps and 3k hdrx 25fps.
sadly.
3K 60fps would make me very happy
A few things I would like to see would be.
1.) The ability to magnify and check focus while shooting.
2.) A true single frame still mode for still life and product photography. ( I need this badly as I still have to use my old (out of date) camera for this type of work.)
3.) I also liked the idea that someone had in Jarred's NAB post that would allow you the option for single frames to be grouped consecutively into a single clip so that the Scarlet and Epic cameras could be used to shoot stop motion . This way you would not have to assemble all the single frames later in post.
4.) Image overlay for match cuts.
5.) I know they are working hard on this but I'll repeat it anyway, better power management.
... not better, I'd say POWER MAMAGEMENT... at this moment there isn't any!
btw I'd say:
1 . power management
2 . pal framerates in 3K (for slowmotion and HDR)
3 . burst mode for higher framerates ...
4 . no one told this ... chance to have or the histogram or the WAVEFORM (for me would be fantastic)
5 . audio playback (already in beta 3.3.3, waitin 4 the final release)
The RED is like a muscle car. Got a big gas guzzling engine in a small chassis, so the best power management firmware upgrade you can do is invest in Bricks. Cause every other camera is just a hybrid...
I can't expect more then 5 extra minutes on a VOLT or 20 extra minutes on a Brick. And you can go a whole 12hr shoot on 4 bricks without a need to charge.
Of course RED cameras use to eat a lot of bricks :) But I think that if sometimes I have to use some redvolts, I'd like, if the camera is off, the redvolt doesn't go ahead powering the camera, the same with the bricks, etc. Maybe the perfect shoot is the one I'll lose 'cause a few minutes lost... In the end I don't know the extra minutes we're going to expect from a power management, but I think that a properly power management is a must for a cinema company like RED. And infact I expect it to be out in the next firmware releases.
3 1/2 items checked off my list:
v/ 120fps at 1k (check)
- movable magnify selection with memory of the last position, and PiP window while recording (still waiting)
~ audio on playback (in the new beta)
v/ phantom power (check)
- frame store/input for overlaying reference pictures, taking stills, and stop-motion
- intervalometer for greater interval time lapse than 1fps (but updating the screen at, at least 24fps)
- longer exposure times, at least for stills and time lapse
- Adjustable rack focus speeds with more than 2 rack focus points
v/ Zoom/crop feed on SDI and HDMI to eliminate black boarders (check)
- Flip option for the LCD (this has got to be simple to do, right?) (I have a rig that would greatly benefit from this)
? PAL frendly fps options like 25p on 3k HDR and 50p on 2K (I'm starting to wonder if this is even possible, seems like they would have done it by now)
X ability to delete clips and delete last shot button (It's sounding like they can't do this)
? Overclocking fps at higher fan speeds? (I'm not so sure I want this any more, especially if it could harm the camera or make it unstable)
? Pre-record function (if the delete clip option is a problem, then this probably is too)
