    Hi guys

i am still on Redcine x 487 as encoding files with or without a rocket card at 1080, 25p still doesn't work with audio on Red cine x PRO

This had been ongoing since August/September last year and it is very frustrating.

I have a substantial investment in RED and AVID products and this is a very frustrating bug that should be fixed by now.

NOTE this problem is only on a mac.

SOMEONE AT RED PLEASE FIX THIS.

While this needs to be fixed, you are aware of the BWF export workaround, then AutoSync in Media Composer?

BWF export workaround? Please tell us more Michael.
Migrated from FCP, and need to catch up.

    Thank you

From REDCINE X, do an export template that is audio only as BWF, and other template for picture only at whatever MXF DNxHD you choose. Import BWF and put your picture only and audio clips in the same bin and do AutoSync from the "Bin" menu. You will end up with all new sync subclips based on the common timecode on one instant operation.

Hmmm... I don't seem to have that problem but I am not working in 25fps. When do you get that error message?

I get the error message inside the avid when trying to play the clips,

This only happens for 25p footage and doesnt happen with RCX 487, only every other version of RCX or RCXPRO. It is an audio problem, and when you encode the audio by itself or a clip with audio the output structure gets garbled and RCXPRO only makes an XML which is useless for AVID. RCX doesn't make the ale or the 2 folders AAF and MXF.

Michael, can you tell us if this is an Avid problem or a Red problem? Thanks very much.

The history and status that I am aware of:

This problem originated with the Avid AMT (Avid Media Toolkit) SDK that third parties license from Avid to create Avid compliant MXF wrapped media (DNxHD, etc.) And while 1080p/25 transcodes worked on Windows based systems, there was an issue with OS X. Avid did take its time addressing this issue, but since January/February, an update to the SDK has been available that fixes this issue. Other third parties have updated and reported no issues. The AMT SDK is available to all third parties and it is up to them to integrate/implement into their products based on their own priorities and resources.

Now, whether there is a different issue preventing this update to be applied in REDCINE X is a matter between Avid and RED. And as I am no longer at Avid, I cannot drive one side of the issues as easily I used to, not an I aware of any late breaking issues that may exist. I do still have many contacts within engineering, and from those discussions, this is the "currently known" status.

Thank you so much. So it seems like Avid first created the problem but has gotten around to fixing it on their end. So it's now up to Red to implement the fix. Thanks again.
