  1. #1 Problems with my Rocket. ..dead????
Today I got some problems with my Rocket.

RedCine X Pro start to give me this kind of error:

    Code:
RR Callback - Decode Failed - Frame: 0 Item: 0x1045382c0 Mode: 'DHRG' CustomSize: 0x0 PixelType: 0x42475238 ImageBuffer: 0x133001000 bufferSize: 0x00654000 RowBytes: 6144 RocketStatus: 4 DecodeError: 786657 - Failed to decode (Corrupt Frame?)
After trying several drivers and firmware installations, I've put the Dip switch#8 to ON and retry a firmware installation.

    No luck:
    Code:
    RED Rocket firmware upgrade

    Currently installed firmware: 1.1.4.1
Upgrade RED Rocket card s/n 30090761 to firmware 1.1.16.5 ?

Press 'y' (one card) or 'a' (all cards) and 'Enter' to continue,
or any other key and 'Enter' to abort: y

Upgrading card s/n 30090761 to firmware 1.1.16.5. This may take several minutes.
Please make sure the computer is NOT powered down during the upgrade procedure.

program: res=163 'SV_ERROR_FLASH_WRITE. Flash write failed.', press 'Enter' to continue.

program: res=90 'SV_ERROR_UNKNOWNFLASH. This flash chip is not supported by the software.', press 'Enter' to continue.

program: res=90 'SV_ERROR_UNKNOWNFLASH. This flash chip is not supported by the software.', press 'Enter' to continue.

    Verification complete.

Upgrade to firmware 1.1.16.5 successful, please completely power down
    and then restart your system.

Please SHUTDOWN fully --do not reboot-- and then power back up again.
    logout

    [Process completed]
Turned the dip switch #8 to off and then:
    Code:
    RED Rocket firmware upgrade

    SV_ERROR_DRIVER_HWCHECK. Driver hardware check failed.
    ERROR:

Please SHUTDOWN fully --do not reboot-- and then power back up again.
    logout

    [Process completed]
Now RX doesn't detect the RR anymore...

    Any clues?

    Solved!
A firmware update with an older version do the job with the dip switch #
8 turned off. After a shootdown, I've switched the switch to On, boot up and install the latest firmware and it work.

man... I had a cold sweat then... I dont know what I would do without my RED ROCKET card...

Thats the only Achilles heal in REDs work flow... having to have that that work fast.

    Glad you got it sorted.

Now it's confirmed my Rocket is really dead....
After a few day's problems start again ( errors on renders and kernel panic all the time) I shipped it to Red and here's the evaluation :

Our technicians completed their evaluation of your RED Rocket and noted the failure was caused by a damaged solder joint interconnection between the heat sink and PCB that was likely caused by excessive mechanical pressure during improper installation or handling.*This is likely the result of torque applied to the board in a bending or twisting motion that separated contacts on the board.*Your RED Rocket could have functioned for a while until the connection was eventually lost due to this compromise. This could also happen if the heat sink was used as a ‘handle’ to remove or install the card.*
    *
Your out-of-warranty RED Rocket was determined to not be in your best economical interest to repair, so we would like to offer you a new replacement RED Rocket for the discounted amount of $3,000 and the replacement will be warranted for a period of ninety (90) days

On top of that, one of my RedMag 256 is dead and out of warranty.. Nice way to start a beautiful weekend -6000$...

redmag dead already? did you use it a lot or was it barely used?

near identical problem with my rocket 2 months back... expect to shell out 3 grand for a replacement. there is no "fixing" rockets. it's just a replacement. the unfortunate thing about computer cards, it's pretty much built as one solid piece almost all at once, so you can't exactly swap out parts like a car.

my card was only a year old too :(

Barely used, a big total of maybe 12 day's of tv commercial job's... Ive just received my Epic but i've bought the Redmag 6 months ago... Weird thing is that it was detected and usable on a computer but not detected in camera...
