My experience with ADOBE has been HORRIBLE... and since I can only get off shore call center support, frustration mounts.

ADOBE offered a 50% discount program if you TRADE - IN your FCP software (not literally) but then they give you a PC only version of the software and refuse to change it
unless you pay for an upgrade.

HELLO!! Final Cut is a MAC ONLY program... can you do the math here people?

Trade in your NLE, we will sell you an unusable program for 1/2 price... GRRRR

EDIT: posting here in the rare hopes that an ADOBE rep will read this and actually care. That I paid $500 for and will not work on my platform.

And please try and refrain from the "Then go buy a PC" comments. That is NOT the point. How can a company not even know that the software they are asking you to switch to and from will need to be MAC ONLY????
    Kind regards,

    Hi Tim,

I'll see what I can find out about this. Was there no option to specify platform during the promotion?

The SWITCH promotion offered a choice of ordering software for either Windows or Mac OS. If you got the software for the wrong OS, you should be able to exchange the application for the correct OS.

If you requested such an exchange and were refused this exchange by an Adobe Customer Service agent, post the case number for that interaction here. I'll make sure that the Customer Service agent who gave you that answer is instructed about how to properly respond.

I suggest that you try again to contact Adobe Customer Service to get an exchange. If they refuse, feel free to point them to my response here.

I am confused by one thing, though: That promotion was over a long time ago. Did you just discover this problem with your order?

Tim, it sounds like you just got a bad rep. I had a similar problem - did the upgrade, got the Mac version then decided to switch to PC.

I won't say it went down without a hitch - the language barrier made it kind of frustrating but I was able to switch my license over in a couple of days. Even though it was hard to communicate from time to time, I found it was easier to do the exchange over the phone rather than by email.

It's pretty awesome that they allow the switch though, which really helped with the frustration involved in the switch. They could have easily gone the FU pay me route.

    Todd,

I haven't been able to find an answer to this so far - getting ready to upgrade to CS6, currently on the trial. On previous versions you could have your program installed on one desktop and one laptop - will that work with the creative cloud subscription if I have a PC desktop and a Macbook Pro for a laptop. Being able to go cross platform on my subscription would be awesome!

Yes. That's a little-touted benefit of the Creative Cloud Membership (CCM) subscription. With the perpetual license version, you are still stuck with two installations and activations on one OS. The CCM option makes it so that one Mac OS and one Windows installation and activation at the same time will work.

    Please, correct my written english.
I'm still learning, and I need your help.

Just to say it feels great as a red owner to see Adobe actively participating in this forum. It was due to this support that I purchased CS 5.5 and am now going to upgrade to CS6. Thank you guys for your support to the red community, workflow and cameras. I feel confident on making the switch knowing that you guys have my back and will keep up to date to what red does.

When have we ever seen an Apple rep around here?

Let alone answering in a timely and helpful manner …
    Regards,

Sounds like you didn't understand that you could easily buy CS5.5 direct on Adobe's website and specify which platform you wanted the program for... I did this with no problem, got CS5.5 for $800 (roughly) and will be upgrading to CS6 production premium for $375. Just because you made an uninformed purchase doesn't mean Adobe sucks. Doesn't mean you suck either... just do a bit of research and you'll find things to be much easier.
