Just finished cutting my 2012 DP show reel. Would love some feedback from my fellow redusers.

Hey nice work! I felt like the short time lapse @ 2:02 was a little out of place, but everything else was outstanding. Good job.

Really like your framing and you have a great sensitivity to the action on screen. Some really great work man. Good stuff.

Nice work, I like the framing and eye. To me the things that should be good are good. However I thought you need some adjustments on other components. If you're interested here are my notes.

    1. The whole, "I'm a big studio, look at my opening slate" thing has to go if this is you as a DP. It's confusing. If you're a movie studio and you've produced a blockbuster then go for it. Otherwise just a name will do. Don't waist my time with something that has no value.

    2. I liked the music but it's too much to use on the whole piece. Give us a break and change to something else in the middle then I'd resolve back to the boffo piece to end on.

    3. The continual intercuts between the war boys, running girl and posing girl make me think you're short on material. Also the extra city scape isn't necessary. Show me only the best stuff.

For me the problems just make me feel as if you're trying to be bigger than you are. Which actually makes me think you're less than you probably are. That confusion will not serve you. My gut and the fact you are asking for notes from a professional forum swings me back to, you've probably got something to offer, but why confuse me? It appears you're better than that.

Thanks guys for the positive feedback!

@Chris - I see where you're coming from, although myself is primarily a DP, my studio in San Francisco is a one-stop shop production house. We go from concept to final render. So although is my DP reel, it also serves as my promo for my full-service video production company. Hope this clears up the confusion.
