Since I've been struggling with working natively with RED footage in After Effects and I'm not ready to upgrade anything it seemed logical to edit with proxies and render out proof versions with them as well but then output the final versions without the proxies and therefore the highquality RED footage. With After Effects easy 'click-on and off' proxy button this seemed an even better idea, particularly for any color correction, where I could just use one frame to correct with using the RED footage then flick the proxy back on when editing again.

However... for some bizarre reason the proxy seems just as slow as the RED footage. I've tried using the proxies that the RED camera generates as well as rendering out my own low quality ones but, no matter what I do, they all seem to render slowly still. Any ideas?
