    Hi,

so im working on some VFX shots and have churned out some R3d trims to pull into nuke for compositing. My resources are limited computer and storage wise and im looking to optimise my workflow...
So the plan is thanks to help from a previous thread...

    1. export ungraded R3D trims from RED CINE X Pro for each shot to be worked on in nuke
    2. use the ungraded R3D trims to pull keys in nuke and do all VFX work (because then the green screens are a good color and not changed)
    3. then my plan was to then do a preliminary grade in RED CINE X PRO and pull those looks into NUKE and apply them to the same R3D files but not the one im doing keying on,
This is so that i don't have to export the same R3D trims but graded and consequently double my disk space and processes in nuke (again i have limited computing power and space (student project!))
    4. i would then use the mattes created from the ungraded R3D trims to merge the RED CINE X Pro graded R3D Trims on top of my CGI footage.
    5. Lastly i would grade the CGI plates to match the R3D graded footage and make it all look how i want.

    so my quesstions are...
    1. can i import somehow the looks i created in RED CINE X Pro onto exported and untouched R3D Trims in nuke?
    2. is this pointless because Nuke seems to be able to edit some of the RMD raw paramters? however the reason i dont want to is because NUKE doesnt seem to have all of the same parameters on its read node.
    3. should i just bite the bullet and export ungraded R3d trims and addtional Graded R3d Trims?
    4. lastly on the grading pipeline (knowledge and experience is pretty much Null) somewere is Nuke good enough to get the most out of my Red footage after it is graded? should i be ussing Davinci etc?

just general advice would be great!
    running NUKEx 6.3V1
    RED CINEx Pro Beta 64bit
    Red One Mysterium X footage 4K 16:9 (4096 x 2304) 25fps

    Many many thanks!

again, from a fusion perspective, in the loader, under format, there is a button to load rmd settings. you could have an instance which uses the rmd settings for your grading and an instance which does not by using the load clip settings. i suspect nuke would offer something similar in the file in node. obviously you could use also redcine data itself and match the color/curve settings etc in the file in node without using rmd directly for one instance and change it for another, effectively accomplishing the same thing but not relying on the clips default settings - for instance if you wanted to denoise for your keys.
