I'm running Avid Media Composer 6 and Redcine-X Pro 12. I'm new to this combination, and would love some help on my online relink. I first exported the clips for a DNxHD 36 offline, used Media Tool in Avid to import (didn't use the AAF's or the ALE, Redcine generated an individual ALE for each .r3d so I didn't bother). Now that I'm close to a finished cut, I want to bring in the files for an online. Exported an EDL, brought it into Redcine and graded, exported in DNxHD 175x with 48 frame handles. Now when I go back to Avid, I decomposed the sequence and relinked, choosing 'selected files within bins' in a new online-footage-only bin, but 30% of my clips do not link up. Short of doing those by hand, what are my options?

For those that do not relink, what has changed or not matching in the TAPE and Timecode fields? On a related note, RCX does not export an ALE for every clip, it creates an ALE for every "batch". It does create an AAF for every clip in the batch. That is basically a select all, dran and drop in the bin with instant relink to media. Something for next time.

Thanks for the quick reply. The TC and tape fields both match? And I wish I knew that before!

You shouldn't need to decompose either. Take the original offline edit, highlight that as well as all the new DNxHD 175 clips and do a "relink to selected". That workflow is demonstrated in the second half of the Avid/RED workflow webinar at www.avid.com/red
