  1. #1 Something I wished existed: remote mount for the side handle.
When the camera is on rig like the clutch then wouldn't it be handy to have instead of the the right handle. To have control at your finger tips have the camera side handle on a remote mount instead all powered by a red volt in the grip.

Just a thought as mount my Red on my wee rig.

We've ventured this one several times. Problem is it can cost $500 to build that cable, so how many people would pay that much for it?

Well then, looks like there's some interest so I'll tell you what-- If we can take 10 pre-orders for the cable at $500 then we'll build it. Send an email to jason@CinemaOxide.com to be added to the list.

Jason, are you saying you can make a cable that can connect the side handle to the epic and thus allowing us to put the side handle anywhere we want?

1.>We've ventured this one several times. Problem is it can cost $500 to build that cable, so how many people would pay that much for it? ME. FLEXIBILITY IS GOOD.
2.> Or you could just buy a REDMOTE... ? IF I COULD GET IT TO RELIABLY STAY CONNECTED FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE OR TWO. WIRED IS A GOOD OPTION.
3.> Jason, are you saying you can make a cable that can connect the side handle to the epic and thus allowing us to put the side handle anywhere we want? NO, I THINK HE WANTS A REDMOTE OPTION. BUT A CABLE FOR THE SIDE HANDLE WOULD BE WELCOME TOO.
    C'Mon Red. Wired options please.
    Cheers,

I assume Red are worried about damaged cables that will fry a camera, or Redmotes or Side handles that suffer abuse/ dropped in a puddle/ get a few drops of rain/... which get destroyed under warranty, or also fry a camera.
I can't think of any other reasons they wouldn't make a cable for the Redmote.

To me its the ergonomics, my rig is figrig esq hand rig. Hence holding the with both hands, and operating the red mote could prove a slight challenge. for shoulder rigs samething so of thing, yes you can change your hand grip, look at the redmote and grab the handle again. With a bit of care you won't knock the shot, but its just a bit more work load and little less attention down the viewfinder. Redmote is great if your looking at it but it doens't have the tactile que in it shape that the side handle has to operate blind. There is no thought needed to operate the camera funtions with sidehandle, for some that may non appear a large advantage, but for those with a camera welded to their shoulder all day it might mean not looking down at the redmote when something important happens.

In essence: The abily to have the controls at my fingertips however the rig is held.

How it to work is important detail but detail no the less, a wireless mount for the sidehandle would be cute but a wired solution could be is just as good for a lot of situations.
