I don't want Ridley Scott to shoot the Blade Runner Sequel at all. It is pure Blasphemy.

I would agree with you if it was a remake; it was sufficiently made the first time. But something new set in that same universe? That has me excited--as does 'Prometheus'! Blade Runner is my favorite movie of all time and I trust Ridley Scott's vision that this will be something special.

Usually in all other industries there is a concept of Service Contract covering Software upgrades and hardware replacement in case of hardware failure.
Such service contracts are charged 8% to 12% annually from the purchase value.
Where ½ of this amount is for Software upgrades and ½ is for hardware warranty.

I never heard about hardware “new model guaranteed” Service Contracts.

But since RED is pioneer in this industry maybe it will consider “Always up to date” contract.
Each line of cameras would be updated to the top model for an annual fee.

Imagine you can buy such contract for annual fee of 20% from the purchase value of the Dell or Apple Computer. Well we change laptops every 2-4 years. So it is 50% to 25% fee right there.
20% fee is like changing hardware every 5 years. Can you imagine using the same camera for more than 5 years without any upgrade? Well some do so they will not buy this contract.

Such contracts will motivate companies to make hardware more modular so not all components have to be changed.

This will start a new trend in the industry for sure, and RED will be in the best position to do it.

BTW environment friendly move as well.

I bought a Red instead of anything from any other competitor because of this mentality. Because I can tell that the guys in charge of Red are sprinting to the future.

I am not a fanboy of Red, or any other company. But I am a fanboy of Progress. If you guys keep sprinting forward, I'll keep struggling to keep pace. Keep fighting to bring the future closer, faster, and I'll keep opening my wallet for it.

That's a pretty awesome deal, for both parties, I think.
