I did not get the focus hook, I just missed it. I am in Georgia, a country in Europe and ordering just a focus hook makes no sense, so I was wondering if anyone could accurately tell me where the focus mark should be, like how many millimeters from the edge of the body of the camera? This way I can make a hook myself here.

please if any of you have one, it is just a quick measurement.

The front plate is essentially the focal plane. Its actually a mm or so in front of that plate but it's close enough.

thanks, but from that thread, I see where to mount the hook, but I was wondering if it was possible to know how many mm from the edge of the camera body the hook goes in.

    but thanks anyways.

    approx. 1/16 "

off hand - would one really be able to measure the difference when using a tape measure of it was 1/16 or 1/8 " to a subject that was 7' from the mark on camera ?

the line right in front of the red start button (side of camera) is the focus plane. It is where the front piece of the camera is joined to the body.

You mean the line or crack just to the left of the red run button on the side of the camera?? I figured it to be further to the left than this. The photograph someone posted before of the focus hook in action seemed also to be further left than this?

see image below. Focus Hook is at the bottom (to left of SD card), the line right next to it is pretty close to the sensor.

When I was testing before my first RED shoot, i encounterd the same problem, With the new Cooke S4/i lenses, i figured te focal plane is about 3,5mm RIGHT of the so called "crack"

Is the focus hook in alignment with the focal plane? If not, what is the point of it?
