I have been wondering for years where this lens was. Those of us who made livings with beta cams and HDcams worked with really good B4 lenses with integrated zooms. I've owned a couple Fujinons over the years. The technology is there. Fujinon finally adapted it for a PL lens. More, please. I want one for a Canon 30-300.

It will have to be tested but my guess is there will be some tradeoffs for the size, weight and speed of this lens. My guess is sharpnes will be great but distortion and breathing will probably be more in the ENG vein than cinema. Very curious to test it though.

I am really looking forward to checking this lens out as well. I am so impressed with two of the other Fujinon zooms I got to use this year. The 24-180 and the 75-400. Just stunning glass. I am sure this won't disappoint.

Mike, did the Fujinon 24-180 cover 5K FF?

Yes, that's what I think will be the case. Even the very good Ang. 16-42, or 15-40 for that matter, show a distinct barrel distortion on the wide end. Fujinons Allura zooms are superb glass but they come in the classic 35mm form factor. The 19-90 light weight zoom must be different. A zoom factor of 4.7, a comparable wide starting point at 19mm, the small form factor let me believe that Fujinon build this lens right on the edge. I would be very surprised not to see classic trade-off Evin mentioned above.

BTW, the Fujinon 19-90 just got competition: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthr...ngenieux-Zooms

Hi Gary. I was shooting a project for Red Bull and the specs for the show were 4KHD. No vignette there. I did mess around with 5K full frame to check coverage and there is vignetting on the wide end. I can't recall exactly where it starts and ends. On the 75-400 I did not note any vignetting at 5K. Both lenses are crazy sharp glass though. Wide open looks fantastic. Best zooms I have ever used for sure.

The 75-400 covers 5K. The 24-180 does not.

That lens weighs almost 13 lbs and requires a lens support. I just tested it and it is gorgeous, but do you really want to go handheld with that?

I'd love a side-by-side comparison of this new Fujinon with the new Optimo 19.5-94. They both seem similar in size, weight, etc.. Angenieux has a great servo unit as well.
