Hi all, I'm getting worried... prerec mode missing is a real issue for me. Sure, it's not at the top of the list for most of epic users, but I just wonder what has to be fixed before that feature gets the necessary attention... Please, Red people, understand that without a prerec mode, epic is useless in various efp/eng situations !

Would love to see a few seconds pre-record added as well...

+1 - not quite a 'make or break' feature, but incredibly useful - esp for wildlife efp.

It would be a huge addition for me. I just spent a week around Big Sur in california shooting landscapes and wildlife and shot about 1.5 TB of stuff. Could have cut that to 1/4 or less of the recorded time with a pre-record feature....waiting for just the right shape and energy waves, etc.

How long is the pre-record time with the Red One?

Yeah this would be a massive help for me, shooting extreme sports. Only need a second or so.

I've heard from a rep that it will be included on future firmware - I would use this loads! Not just for wildlife either :)

My Red is called Vertov after a Russian avantgarde filmmaker, a pioneer in modern cinematography, a true revolutionary who later suffered under Stalin's bureaucracy.

    Red,
you will not get many users on this page that want a pre-record feature. Because pre-recording is a key feature for documentary and wildlife filmmakers. So many of them don’t buy a red cause this feature is missing.
If Red will implement the feature soon this will change. But Red has to implement it soon cause many documentary filmmakers migrate to other cameras like Arri Alexa due this feature.

It is already changing - but the introduction of a pre-record feature would really speed it up. Hopefully the take-up of the Epic by larger wildlife production units like the BBC NHU will make this happen sooner rather than later.l
