Hi, i just shot a commercial with the Epic, and used red gamma 3, it looks great in camera, but not at the color grading stage, Davinci doesn't gives me the option of using red color 3 nor red gamma 3.

Is there any color grading software or another workflow I could use to maintain the red gamma 3 look?

    Thanks in advanced

RC3 and RG3 are new enough that they aren't really out in the third party software packages just yet.

When they are, the recommended settings to use for a full grade will be Red Color 3 and RedLogFilm (will look grayer and more washed out at first, but will provide you with more latitude for the actual grading process.) Until then, use Red Color 2 and RedLogFilm.

If you are deadset on starting from a more visually pleasing look, then you could try RedGamma 2. It's not as good as RedGamma 3 (not by a long shot, really), but it will be the closest you can get in 1-button click.

Also, you could try the LUTs from Nick Shaw in Resolve. Might get you in the ballpark. http://antlerpost.com/Plugins.html

For now, other than what others have mentioned, you can export sequences from Redcine-X. You can use either redgamma3 or redlogFilm - depending on your preference for grading. Export DPX, TIF, or EXR - you choose. Yes, it sucks that there's an extra step to get to your favorite application. Yes, the files get big. Yes, it's generally a pain - albeit a necessary one. This is the natural pain of the cutting edge. It takes time for the other companies to catch up. Hopefully the process for updating software will become more flexible in time, but until then we must bear the growing pains :) Patience is good. In any case, folks have found ways to make incredible images since the early builds of R1... I'm pretty sure we can make do with the options we have now. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I really liked the way red gamma 3 looks like... I'm gonna give the LUT's a try, or go the extra step and use redcinex.

    Thanks again!

Ps: can you render with this LUT's baked in at the end? Or they are only for monitoring porpouses?
