I really can't fathom why RED have made this run business so awkward. Anyhow; I can't get a run cable off Preston for the MDR1 because the power supply out can't be regulated. The MDR2 is no problem but the MDR1 is an issue.

Has anyone made a sensible solution for this? Ideally a 3pin RS connector would be perfect that way all our cables would just work? Any box's out there? Anything from any of these third party manufacturers?

I do hope the PRO IO box has a sensible run socket or someone makes a RED EPIC to ARRI 3pin RS box.

    Thanks for your time

To the top on this. Wanted to see if anyone has a solution.

We have the spacecam box which gives BNC for Stop/Start. Looking for some options.

It appears the PRO/IO will solve all these problems. It should support all the original Red One start stop cables for Preston, VF, etc.

Jason, regarding Spacecam, you need to contact them directly. They have their own start/stop cable/box for their adapter.

We (MadlyFins) are coming out with a new version of our remote start box within two weeks. Part of the new design is that you will be able to get addons, and one of them will be an Arri RS adapter.

We're trying to avoid the Pro IO given the new Plus One Module Adapter (for adding an EVF) and our need for on-board audio (beyond the standard 2 channels) being few and far between. Scratch tracks and that's about it.

I like the spacecam and Madly fins controllers but they're another piece of gear to hold onto. Can't have an AC juggling multiple controllers on a show.

Can you upgrade an MDR-1 to work with this:

Just heard that a few guys are modifying their MDR1 to supply 3V on one of the pins and making custom CAM to BNC cables. Anyone know of any shops offering this?
