Wasn't dual monitor already a possibility using the LCD port and the HDMI on the bottom?

Yup.. but this gives you dual RED monitor ports.. single cable that sends both power and Video. So you can use an EVF plus LCD at the same time.. or 2x LCD.. etc. etc. etc.
