Saw all sorts of Thunderbolt enclosures and peripherals at N.A.B. - just wish these things were shipping now. It'll be really nice to roll up on set with a Macbook pro, a thunderbolt box with a REDrocket inside; a nice tight small package for away jobs in hotel rooms & locations away from the studio. Add in Smoke 2013 when it's released later this year and no-one will be able to complain about workflow ever again… (maybe?)
Can't believe I get paid to do this.
If I don't own it I rent it...

Has anyone who signed up for a reservation for the mLogic mLink-R heard anything from mLogic? I haven't even received an email confirmation from them after signing up.

The mLink R is black. It also has a couple rear pass-thru holes for mounting the SDI connectors to the chassis at the rear. The regular mLink only has the single slot opening at the rear.

The MLink box seems like a great little machine for semi portable red rocket use. What I want to know is, can someone walk us through the whole process from downloading a card to transcoding?

You plug in your card reader via fw800? Or do you buy a lacie esata-thunderbolt hub to use your esata port on the card reader?
Once its downloaded to your drive(s) how do you connect your Mlink box to your source files for viewing and transcoding? If theyve been dumped onto a fw800 drive youre still relying on the speed of that drive to read/write, right? Or am i completely missing something?

Wondering the same. All's quiet here while Sonnet gets their TB enclosure to market.

Hey guys!! I have been beta testing this and it is nearing its release. Here is a pic of the latest production version:

I will chime back in with some tentative delivery dates. So far the mlink R has been performing perfectly and is a dream to use anywhere I travel.
