I'm sure I'm doubling up here but just thought Editshare's Lightworks announcements worth raising.

    Release

Sixty bucks per year for an incredibly powerful, Academy Award delivering NLE, with wide format support, including R3D, on Windows and Linux with Mac to come.

Not sure what the holdup is on the Mac side. Hope they are able to provide Mac version soon, as it would help in the evaluation of the various NLEs and Super Apps hitting the market.

Anyone know what the Lightworks business model is now? Selling support? Selling hardware?

Amazing how many cheap (or even free) options there are these days.

Hard to tell Steve. A week ago they were talking about Mac and Linux versions like they'd deliver at the same time. Hopefully it's not too far away. Really looking forward (backwards?) to getting back on Lightworks. My favourite NLE.

Looking at the numbers Brandon, they have over 250,000 registered users. At $60 each, that's $15,000,000 per year if they all sign up - and for sixty bucks a year, you'd have to expect a lot to do so - even if it's just to have on your machine for the odd job where it suits. The appstore business model. Win-Win!

Yes, the current Lightworks Beta doesn't support r3d.

Anyone worked with r3d's in lightworks' latest release yet? They seem to be saying everything is working now.
