Is it worth getting the Formatt ND filters with hot mirror built in. Any advice would be great as they are alot more expensive than the regular NDs

Mike are you saying the Formatt NDs *are* good for the Epic? I recall seeing some tests done where the IR was clearer than on the S Platinums.

I love my Formatt set, not wanting to change right now if it's not critical. The IRND 1.2, also.

Aren't the Schneider Platinums new IR filters? I'm asking this relative to the 'coloration' that some say they see....

The Platinums seem to be rather neutral, no?

These 77mm Tiffen IRNDs seem like a bargain, does anyone have experience with them, especially 1.5 and above?

The Tiffen white water IR NDs .3 - 1.2 are great. You may need an additional IR cut filter for 1.5 and above with certain fabrics. The Schneider IR 750 works well.

We very recently did a pretty extensive test comparing Shcneider Platinum vs. Schneider "Tru-Cut IR" vs. Tiffen IRND vs. Tiffen T1 vs. Rosco IR.
We tested every combination we could get our hands on from the local rental houses in Toronto.
I would like at this point to thank PS Productions Services Toronto and Image Gear Inc for providing the filters and facilities for testing.

I will make a nice table in the coming days and will post the results here.
The test was done using Epic-X camera and Red Pro Primes.

I have Tiffen's also. However, I remember in Phil Hollands tests he posted and the Format was clearly outshining Schneider and he was extremely happy and surprised.

The only way I know of to get double reflections is when the mirrored side of the filter is not the outermost surface.
Any IR or HM needs to be the first surface the light hits - any other filters behind it.
Best reason never to stack multiple IR's

If anyone has a different experience, please share
