If you've used a Nikon-G to EOS adapter or Optitek Nikon G iris ring then think of a stepless motor actuating that lever.
I have been wondering if Red might consider an auto iris function with the Nikon mount since it can be step less? I know the cinema purists might scoff at the idea, but some of us in other genres could find it useful.

Slightly off topic question: The original Red One Nikon Mount was made of Aluminum, correct?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hey Jared,
Any updates on preordering the Nikon mount? Last I heard was the 90-day estimate which put its release at around July or August. We're itching to get in the queue over here...

Can't wait to pre-order this too.

Curious if there's a reason not to get the aluminum version and save some money. Never understood the difference, besides the material of course. For a 2 pound lens, is there any major difference?

    Thanks

Other than the Material there is no difference. Titanium is less susceptible to heat changes and more rugged (if that's the right term)
If you want the best get the titanium. It will be rock solid for even heavier lenses. If you are on a budget or don't have to rely on your mount in the weirdest weather and heat condition changes : the aluminum is superb in itself. I have the canon al and love it. It's the best canon mount there is! (except for the titanium)
