How much of what you see on the monitor does camera throw away?

Hey guys,

Our Red One monitor shows the whole frame with a bounding box that looks like "action safe" guides. When playing back, we found that the camera had cropped everything outside of that box.

Is this normal? Does the camera only record what's inside that box?

That's the look around area, it does not get recorded.
