Some cameras do hold their valeu a very long time, not 100%, but a lot of it.

F900, EX1, etc. Cameras only lost a ton of value that were SD, and then HD came out. A Red MX is 4K, after all, RAW - it's quite future-proof. It will be an extremely long time before much better than that comes out, and MXs are still used as B Cams on very high end Epic shoots today. Rare is the situation where the MX does not have enough latitude or sensitivity - and never is the situation where it does not have enough resolution.

That may be the case, but I was referring to the models that still have the original M sensor and CF module. Right now they hover around 10k, and I have seen one go on here in the sale section for 8k, with accessories too most of the time. I stand by my assertion that within 2-3 years we can see those M sensor bodies going for 5-6k on ebay easily.

I think they've gone as low as they will for a while. Used price on Ex1 has not changed in 3 years. I think those selling now are no longer desperate, so price may go up a little soon.

I love my Red-MX. It has many years and many beautiful images in front of it. It payed for itself in a little over one year and is still going strong almost 4 years later. I make close to its current sale value in using it for projects every year. If there is one thing I would love to see - which is probably out of the realm of the possible - would be the canon mount (and support for the upcoming Pro-Redmote folow focus) to work on the Red-One. I have used the birger for years and love the look of canon glass on the red but have had to put up with all of the shortcomings of the Impero. If red could pull off either offering an adapter for the dsmc canon mount or a new Red-one specific mount I would be ecstatic. I am less interested in upgrades as in expanded choices for accessories and if the wireless and intelligent lens mount technology could be adapted to it I think these alone could extend the useful life of the Red-one for a good long while.

If you really learn the Impero - and update your Birger firmware - it's actually brilliant. We shoot $100 000 music videos with it. What shortcomings? It just works.

That will never happen - electronics cannot handle it.

The only downside of the REDone is there is no upgrade path to Dragon, which will mark it's own demise. MX is a amazing sensor and the M was unthinkable for it's time. But People want to keep up with newer sensor technologies and forget the older one's short comings. It will still get jobs but just not the jobs it was worthy of getting a few years ago and not for the price. I don't see it stopped being used in the industry until the death of HD. So we still got some time left.

Personally I would like to see RED to turn the REDone into slow-motion camera. Throw 3 epics into that body and sell it for like 100K. Make it a RED phantom camera.

I like how you read and replied to at like 2 of my statements that clearly state my plans to eventually get one, and then you finally expressed your doubt as to whether I actually owned one. Of course I don't. Thats why i am posting in a thread about my projections for prices.
