Haven't signed up for Red ownership just yet but am holding it down in Richmond.

Max Fischer from Gearhead Camera is the only one I'm aware of that has a lower reservation number in Richmond. Hopefully there are more. We'll find out soon enough.

I'm heading up VCU-TV/HD here in Richmond. Long time film guy trying to find something worthy in the HD world. Red looks like the best thing going out there right now. I'm looking into it seriously to add to our resouces soon.

How is that 350 holding up?

Hey Tim. All is well in VCU-TV/HD-land except I REALLY want a more film-like acquisition tool than the PDW-F350. It's a great workhorse for documentary stuff but just doesn't cut it for some of the higher end stuff I'm wanting us to get into. Way too much compression in the 350 (not to mention the 1/2" chips and depth-of-field from here to Blacksburg).

I'm hoping RED will take me back to my 35mm roots for a fraction of the price. I'll be stalking them at NAB as well as probably renting a package soon. New budget kicks in July 1 so I'm trying to get my requests in early here at VCU.

We have #1588 reserved. Hopefully it will be here in April. I know work flow could be a problem in the post production portion . This may be helpful: We have two DI suites, can finish 2k at real time or any HD format without rendering.
