I successfully upgraded to the new firmware on my Scarlet and am trying to upgrade my REDmote.

My Macs (have tried 2) each see the REDmote in the Network Utilities just fine but the REDmoteUpgradeApp cannot. The device does retain the IP address without a problem. I have tried both my Mac Pro and my MBPro. Both are on Lion 10.7.3. I have tried different cables.

One oddity is that when I double-click to open the latest version of the upgrade app, it wants to open as a text file; I have to force it open with terminal. However, even after I do that, the app cannot find the REDmote. I even tried using the old version of REDmoteUpgradeApp and, while it opens right away in Terminal, it doesn't fare any better in finding the REDmote.

Any hints before I file a support ticket?

    Thanks.

EDIT: Also tried restarting the machine at various states. :-(

terry, same with me. i used old 3.0 redmote upgrade app to launch and it worked like a charm, gave some funny message first but it worked. leave terminal open, i had to minimize a few windows to find the correct one to upload the .bin file. Worked though. just had the mini workaround

It's not just you. I got the exact same problem.

EDIT: Ah, good idea to use the 3.0 redmote upgrade app.

OK - my problem was solved a slightly different way...

I started fooling around and entered a subnet mask (255.255.255.0) into my "connection box" in Network Utilities. Then, when I launched the App, and clicked "CONNECT" it was successful. The rest of the upgrade went as advertised. I am not a "network guy" so I am not sure exactly why this worked.

FYI, the upgrade application has not changed - it is completely safe to use one of the older ones. We will look into what happened to it when preparing this upgrade package so that it no longer opens correctly.

I had the same problems today with the app opening as a text file and then not connecting once I opened the app by right clicking and opening with Terminal. I talked to tech support and notified them about the app opening issue and he said he'd forward it to the software engineers. And then when I said I was using Lion he knew I needed to enter the subnet mask, so it's clearly something that should be included in the upgrade instructions.

Same problem here. And even with subnet mask entered no successful connection.

I had the same problem too and solved it by using the older upgrade application from 3.0. Give it a try Erwin.

Same, but I used the 3.0 version of the upgrade app and all went well.
