    Scarlet X with 3.0.6

    ISSUE 1:

I shot 3 mags wed night and one is missing the log file.

I am able to transfer it to my cpu via drag and drop but when I try to duplicate it onto another drive i get error message 43 (osx lion) saying needed item missing unable to copy.

    anyone had this issue b4?

I am thinking of popping the mag back into the cam and shooting another clip in hope of getting that log file back. or save log file is an option i think.

    ISSUE 2:

I was using am anton bauer battery plate with anton bauer bats with dtap to red power cable to power the camera and (a) the power readout said "0%" (b) i couldnt hotswap with redvolts (c) i couldnt get levels on the mic (im not sure if this was related or not tho but is the only variable i can single out)

If anyone from RED can tell me why one of my mags failed to record the log file that would be great. Please let me know how to resolve this. I started a support ticket but have not gotten a repsonse yet. I really need to move forward with backing up and transcoding for dailies with the director tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Did the mag not contain a log file after a clean shutdown/save via menu or did you just have issues once it was transferred to the PC?
Are you attempting to copy the log to another mag mounted on the PC? If this is the case, RED Watchdog may have mounted the drive read only.

In any case, the camera keeps a history in the log over several boot cycles. So you can re-insert a mag and regenerate it.

#2 -- It looks like your camera is having problems communicating with the battery, that's the source of problems a, b, c. When you're able to work out the log issue, please get it to the support team.

The Mag seemingly did not contain the log file after shutdown. Not sure if it was a clean one tho. I only had problems once it was transfered to the PC and I was trying to make a backup on a second HD. Regardless I shut down the PC, quit watchdog, and tried to copy the downloaded footage onto another drive and it worked. I think somehow the 1st HD i tried to backup on got messed up.

so problem fixed - but my question is why/how does a Mag loose the log file? incorrect shutdowns?

    Thanks,
    Jack

The camera only saves the log to the mag when you cleanly power down or explicitly save it. If you pull the power or do a hard power down, the log won't be saved to the mag. But like i said, it is always stored internally in the camera, so you aren't actually losing it.

Any reason a log file wouldn't be created if you formatted the card, shot 3 clips, then properly ejected it? That's what I'm experiencing and you'll have to excuse me but after 4 RMAs, I worry about all the little things now.
