Nothing exciting but Iso 5000 looks good, My friend asked me to stop by, she had a store event, so I shot this little video, they had no lighting on the stage at aLL and decided to turn off all the lights in the store except 3 led dj lights that were backlighting the girls, so I had to boost ISO 5000, and I thought nothing was going come of it.
But it wasn't a paid gig, or I wasnt filming for anything so why not test the cam, handheld crazy so by no choice, and I was surprised, there is grain but it's a nice grain, I used 24L 1.4 No color grading or filtering straight render.

Did you denoise the footage at all with a program like neatvideo? Or is it as is?

I'm still trying to get my head around this one. Changing the ISO affects the way your image looks on the monitor, but not necessarily the way it's recorded. After all you are recording in RAW. What it probably does, is give you a good idea what your image would look like if you rise the ISO to that level using Redcine X. It will also give you a good indication of shutter speed and aperture. That's how I see it. Shooting with the Scarlet requires a completely different approach of when I was shooting with a DSLR.

Yes that is true with raw, however I wasn't filming 48th I was on 24th, and no neat video here, what you see is what you get, no color correction,

Greg, this is great to hear. It does look fantastic. I think vimeo compression helps a bit in removing noise (?) that's a question...
Also what were you shooting for the beginning versus for the end where you went as high as 5000 iso ?

what also helps with noise is the down-res from 5k/4k capture to 1080p or in this case 720p. It really lowers the appearance of noise and helps sharpen the image. If I understand correctly he is also shooting a 360 degree or "open shutter" which gives you more light but more motion blur on moving objects (as opposed to 1/48th, 180 degree shutter). His lens is a 1.4. All of these factors helped him in achieving these results.

What saturation level is you're cam set to?

Looks Awesome. So that's a Canon Mount, not a PL? 1.4 is a nice aperture. Kind of price lense?

Could also help that there's a lot of blue light (or blue CC), which is generally the noisiest channel. Kind of like camouflaging the blue noise... know what I mean?

Maybe post a .r3d raw (still or 5sec clip)... it'd have all the metadata in it too, so people can see what's really going on.
