Looking to make the most out of a limited budget. Want to get a production monitor to use with my scarlet that I can also use in post as well for grading, client monitor etc.Usually we rent the panny BT-LH1710 for on set. I love this monitor, but I also know there's a newer model the BT-LH1760W which I heard has better blacks, but the air intake is terrible on it. And then at NAB I guess they released the BT-LH1850 which sounds awesome, but not sure if it is for field or just studio use. I also have heard good things about Flanders scientific, but as I've never used them before I lean towards Panasonic just out of familiarity. Any suggestions?links to the monitors:

I'm going to buy the 1850 when it comes out. I saw it at NAB and was very impressed with it. I've owned a 1710 for years and it has been a great field monitor.

I don't get it, why is this 1850 model still not 1920x1080 pixels?? it has 1,366 x 768 resolution. tv's, computer screen, iPads all have higher resolutions, why can't the 1850 also have at least 1920x1080??

Panasonic probably decided to buy a less expensive monitor to keep costs and price down on a big-ticket item.

Consumer TVs and monitors are made by the millions. They benefit from a huge supply and demand. Video production equipment is a small custom slice of an even smaller market. Almost no one in the world needs a production monitor, but everyone wants a TV.

Thanks Shane. Did you notice any specific improvements over the 1710? I think this is probably the monitor I'm gravitating towards. Wonder when it will ship?

Should ship in a few weeks. It has a nice array of scopes and the picture looked really good. Lower power consumption than the 1760. Price suits me better.

I've been looking at this monitor from Flanders. Just released and seems pretty good for field use and post work. Would love to hear others input on this as well.

That looks interesting, may have to rethink my decision. More expensive but may be worth it.

I've heard good things about FS, so when I saw they had a new one it got me thinking. They've got a field case available and c-stand mount so it seems good for field work. Also has battery plates available.
