My Epic M from UK was held in customs both sides of the pond for 2 days, it added 4 days onto the journey. That was DHL also. FedEx did seem to be much quicker. Hope it's not the same on the way in, Uk is pretty much on holiday from the 31st of this month, that would mean another 7 days on my shipment inbound.

Red does their own manufacturing - maybe it's time to do their own delivery!

DHL are morons. A couple of months ago I waited all day for desperately needed batteries. On the web tracking I saw, delivery attempted but no one answered, which was bullshit since they didn't even leave a card showing they'd been there, like they told me I was supposed to have received. The fact that it was a beautiful Friday afternoon and that the driver was already back at dispatch (16h00) means that he didn't even bother to drop by. When I called, DHL couldn't give a hoot. I had to go pick up the parcel myself and when I complained they more or less told me to shut up and get out. Now that's service!

Add me to the list of people never using DHL again.

they were supposed to deliver my order from Red last friday, had the delivery driver pass right in front of my house at 12:08pm (i've got a clear shot of a DHL van on camera) but he never shows up. 20 minutes later it shows an update showing 'Address information needed; contact DHL'

i call them up, all the info is correct, they tell me it'll have to be the next business day or i can pick up the package myself (depot is an hour away, will probably take 3 hours in traffic there and back). It was never delivered monday, phoned again, promised it'll be delivered tuesday. Its still showing on hold and its not getting delivered today.

basically they're saying "we don't feel like driving out there again. screw you, pick this up yourself".

i've sent my bomb rep Bryan updates, still waiting to hear back on what I should do with this.

do yourselves a favor, DON'T CHOOSE DHL WHEN ORDERING FROM RED.

So I just bought a Red Scarlet and I too am waiting in Toronto Canada.

DHL called me yesterday (granted I missed their call). He left me his contact and so I called this morning. Now I'm still waiting for him to call me back.

In the meantime, I called the main 1-800 number and they took down my email to send me the brokerage forms I got off the phone after they said they just sent it. Half an hour later, I had to call to find out if they even took down my email address correctly. They sent it again and I got the form.

So after filling it out, turns out that there is no email address on the form to send it back. Another call to get that and after sending the form, I now again wait.

Still, I called my DHL contact (who still hasn't called back) to keep him updated.

I remember once using DHL for the company that I worked for and they broke a TV that we were shipping. Worse was that it was fully insured (an extra service payment to DHL) and they still wouldn't honour replacing it.

DHL is a company that simply have employees that don't care...at least not here in Canada. My guess is that my shipment will come on Friday at best.

Me too. They are an incompetent, sleazy organization with low standards. I would fire each employee of theirs I have spoken to immediately for their lackadaisical attitude toward customer service.

In Canada FedEx, Purolator and the good old mail are far better options.

UPS is the worst of all here, with their mafia-style random "brokerage charges" sometimes more than the value of the item (!) and gruff, surly drivers.

Update: So the DHL guy calls me on my cell late Thursday afternoon. He returns my call but doesn't have the tracking number for my shipment (even though he left it on my voicemail when he initially called on Monday. The message I left (which is how/why he called me back had my airway number). Now as we talked on Thursday, he couldn't look me up by my name or address. So I offered to hang up and call him back in 5 mins when I listened to the message.

After listening, I called and again it rang eventually to his voicemail. What an idiot. It was about 4:30pm. His number is local based out of Brampton (only 1 hour away from Toronto). From there, I didn't get a return call till Friday where all he does is repeat what's on the internet.

I finally got my shipment on Monday. Unreal. I truly think DHL doesn't care in Canada! They are the worst...although I haven't used UPS as ROB put's it, they don't have the best reputation.

Another dissatisfied DHL customer from Calgary. In this case, it was sending the product back to get fixed where the hiccup occurred. I filled out all the paperwork and followed all the instructions and the driver picking up the package kept insisting on creating paperwork that RED specifically said not to fill out (or it would delay the whole process). Luckily and with the help of RED (who was awesome by the way), they managed to find a local alternative and very quick means of getting my package back to them. I believe it came back with FedEx with absolutely no issues. Kudos to RED for being there for every part of the process and moving things along very quickly.

This all sounds pretty terrible but THE ABSOLUTE WORST experience that I've had was with UPS.

I sold a set of RPPs about 2 years ago and shipped them through to a buyer using UPS. I had to provide a lot of documentation to make sure that the lenses were package to their standards etc etc.

Then when the lenses arrived at their destination the packaging was open and the case was just left on the buyers doorstep completely accessible to the public even though it was supposed to be signature only receipt.

When he opened the lenses three of them (maybe four I can't remember now) were damaged and needed to be shipped back to Red for repair. When he had them inspected it seemed that they had been dropped. This obviously made him suspicious that they may have been damaged before I sent them and made me suspicious that they weren't damaged at all - which is a crap situation for both parties who had good intentions.

UPS refused to do anything about the lenses even though a very expensive insurance had been purchased. They used the argument that they are a shipping company and make sure that something arrives where it is supposed to but they are not responsible for anything that happens to it on the way - including it being opened and damaged. So they could receive the package, open it, throw the lenses on the floor and run them over with their van, dump them back in the box and throw it on your doorstep, fake a signature and you're supposed to be fine with that.

After the buyer refused to pay UPS they chased me and tried to use a collection agent on me for payment - I had my lawyer send them a letter and haven't heard from them since.

Anyhow, the buyer and I split the repair bill.

    UPS is shit.
