Glad that Red took care of you Ryan. Hopefully everything is working now =)

I had a package shipped from L.A. to Calgary by UPS and they wanted $70 in fees on a $200 package. So I said that I wanted to self-clear it. UPS immediately shipped the package to Vancouver, and then a few hours later declared it undeliverable and shipped it to Toronto - without telling me of course. So when I arrived at the depot with the customs forms I was told the package was gone and it took about 24 hours and conversations with supervisors before I finally tracked it down. I told them I wanted the package, but they refused to take the package out of the "undeliverable" warehouse until they had my credit card number. Then they finally delivered my package.

Tim's story, though, is unbelievable. UPS and DHL are both crooks. Purolator seems to be the best of the worst IMHO. No issues...yet.

Had a very similar experiences with UPS... I think it's been concluded by this thread to stay away from both DHL and UPS.

Seems like any package I get in the mail that's been delivered by UPS is damaged in some way... Unless the item is very hard to break...

I sold a set of RPPs about 2 years ago and shipped them through to a buyer using UPS. I had to provide a lot of documentation to make sure that the lenses were package to their standards etc etc.

Then when the lenses arrived at their destination the packaging was open and the case was just left on the buyers doorstep completely accessible to the public even though it was supposed to be signature only receipt.

When he opened the lenses three of them (maybe four I can't remember now) were damaged and needed to be shipped back to Red for repair. When he had them inspected it seemed that they had been dropped. This obviously made him suspicious that they may have been damaged before I sent them and made me suspicious that they weren't damaged at all - which is a crap situation for both parties who had good intentions.

UPS refused to do anything about the lenses even though a very expensive insurance had been purchased. They used the argument that they are a shipping company and make sure that something arrives where it is supposed to but they are not responsible for anything that happens to it on the way - including it being opened and damaged. So they could receive the package, open it, throw the lenses on the floor and run them over with their van, dump them back in the box and throw it on your doorstep, fake a signature and you're supposed to be fine with that.

After the buyer refused to pay UPS they chased me and tried to use a collection agent on me for payment - I had my lawyer send them a letter and haven't heard from them since.

Anyhow, the buyer and I split the repair bill.

    UPS is shit.

Just to follow up on my experience with DHL UK. The return journey for my Epic M from upgrade with DHL was faultless. Communication was great, they dealt with customs very quickly and efficiently. Better service than i have ever had from Fedex here in the UK.
