    Hi,

I`m currently doing some tests for an upcoming RED project I`m working in post on. I have using been some test r3d`s with accompanying dual system audio, and I am running into an issue when it come time to sync the audio .WAV`s with my QT proxy files.

Usually, when I`ve been assistant editor on DSLR shoots I`ve just used Pluraleyes in Final Cut Pro 7 to sync the audio and then batch exported the newly synced to self contained QT`s for the editor to work with, as they were only shooting one camera and didn`t require timecode.

But in my tests I`ve found that this does not work for RED, as the self contained synced QT`s do not retain any timecode/reel information from RedCineX Pro, which would be needed for final conforming through a EDL coming out of Final Cut.

What would be a better way to go about this, that would retain the timecode information, without having the editors work with tons of merged clips?

    Thanks

If there is common timecode between picture and sound files, is there not a mechanism to use that for syncing? And you can always sync in REDCINE X Pro if needed if that will be part of your workflow anyway. Pluraleyes works great when there is no common timecode as it uses sound identification to create the sync relationship.

    Hey Michael,

I checked out the RedCineX Pro audio tools built into the app. Thanks for the tip. That should work splendidly for the production. Nice timecode sync implementation.

I like how you can set RCX-P to output the proxies with the mono audio panned center. Is much less cumbersome editing dialogue tracks with just one channel of audio with center pan in Final Cut, rather than audio being on both A1 and A2.

Amazing how far RedCine has come. I remember the REDRushes days, so limited in comparison

    Thanks again
