  1. #1 Message for Ketch Rossi, Under the Tuscan Sun
    Ketch,

We are planning a trip to my Italian Graceland this fall, and by that, I mean the wine country of Tuscany. My personal favorite fruit 'of the loom' is the Brunello grape, more specifically, the Argiano vineyards in Montalcino that harvest that fruit, and produce one of the best wines, in my humble opinion, on the planet.

    Nectar of the Gods.

I plan to get liquid in the very best of ways, on a daily basis, and shoot all of those gorgeous Tuscan scapes with my Epic. And when the day is done, go to bed content, and get up the next morning, to do it all over again.

Any advice for locations, much appreciated.

    Tom

    Hey Tom,

I guess you will be planning your trip form September, the harvesting time for this grapes, always depending on how the season plays out, and possibly remaining till it is processes to "MOSTO" and then once fermentation period is over and the "SACCAROMICETI" did their work transferred to the large now Stainless Still Containers, or depending on size of Vineyard, some still use well maintained Wooden "BOTTI".

Or you are just coming to film a particular period of the Harvesting or processing, in which case time will be dictated yet again by the season which will see the Grapes matured earlier or later.

Either way, the specific of the type of Grapes will determine your Region as you already know, and it will all depend on how you wish to do this, if you are just yourself, or if you are bringing or gathering a local small crew.

I'm no longer in Tuscany, currently residing in Rome were my first film is in full Pre-production and we'll be still in Principal Photography, most likely the last month while in Harvesting season in September to then move in to Post production for the two months to follow, so unfortunately I would not be any were near Tuscany in this time, even so I will be occasionally taking trips up and down the Region scouting Land for a different project.

From Florence till neighboring the Region of Umbria they are an infinity of Vineyards, and a myriad of small beautiful towns, but again, you would want to stay close to Montalcino it self in the SIENA Province, in which you will find many small towns and areas rich with Montalcino Grape Vineyards, such as "POGGIO SALVI" "LA CROCE" "CASTIGLIONE DEL BOSCO" "VILLA A TOLLI" "TAVERNELLE" "CAMIGLIANO" "SANT' ANGELO IN COLLE" "CASTEL NUOVO DELL'ABATE" "POGGIO ALLE MURA" "TORRENIERI" and "BELLARIA" then you can still find more towns and areas and many smaller Vineyards outside and in between this towns, and closer to SIENA.

We are a very friendly country and especially so for the towns outside the big cities, were people tend to be even more welcoming... ;)

Thanks very much Ketch, all locations duly noted. Shooting sober has been done more times than I have changed socks. Or underwear. I have a lot of German friends.

We plan to set the gear up a couple of hours before sunset, then break out the finest Tuscan wine, with maybe a little Formaggio, Antipasto, get the boys happy, delirious even, cut them loose with Epic.

I foresee a huge thing here.

    Thanks again Ketch.

Tom, if you plan to test some chianti, I sugest you to visit the city Panzano in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti.
Here you will find some of the best Chianti. That area is also called the golden valley.
20 vinery (around Panzano) union together to have more visibility.
It's a group working strongly with sustainable winegrowing & winemaking, quality control and a wide exchange of experiences.
If you meet one of those guys, you will have an amazing wine experience
