Started having an issue yesterday where my Red Rocket would become unrecognized by my Mac Pro (2008, Dual-Quad, Snow Leopard). It has worked like a champ ever sine I bought it a year and a half ago. I'm in the middle of a show and need it to start working FAST!

I know the Mac is not seeing it because when i go to "About this Mac.." then hit "More info.." then under PCI cards, it's not in the list as usual. I re-installed the driver and tried to re-install the firmware but the terminal says card is not found.

What gives? How can I fix this? Help!!

    Thanks,
    Aaron

I'm pretty sure you are suffering from "RED ROCKET TIMED DEATH"

as unfortunately many of us have suffered from.

I just sent mine in for RMA.

They said it was physical Damage - I have never physically damaged the card.

Its poor soldering joints in the Redrocket most likely.

    VERY AGGRAVATING.

You could try removing and reseating the card (GENTLY!!!) don't touch the fan when you remove it.

Well I took it out and reseated it, and it's working again. Phew! But the thing you're talking about sounds like a disaster! What's RMA? Should I send/take mine in to Red to have it looked at? What does that cost?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

RMA is when/where you send in a broken item for repair. Evaluation is like $100.

Glad yours is working. Mine was Effed.

Im having close to the same issue in Lion.
RCXPro keeps telling me I need updated driver/firmware even after installing a few times.
System info shows RedRocket so its there.
Hope someone chimes in soon, getting busy here :)

Are you having the same issues? I just did a new Mac Pro set-up with an older Rocket card. I don't know what happened. I have the same set-up except its in a CUBIX and that runs fine.

I rebooted to a Snow Leopard HD that Ive had running for over a year with RCX and ROCKET. It runs fine on there but its also telling me that its driver 1.4.7.0 and firmware 1.1.14.38.
This tells me that under Lion HD the card is not updating during driver/firmware install.
It asks me to shut-down after each attempt so Im assuming its working.

I tried it again with driver first, reboot then firmware then reboot.
    Now it works.
    Weird.
