It usually goes extremely well. What is your problem?

I would add to the general discussion that maybe you can be all hippie and just artistic and have no tech knowledge and still get good results, but usually those results are much, much more expensive and time consuming than if you did have that knowledge.

Part of tech knowledge is knowing the shortcuts and cheaper alternatives, sometimes just as good, to any way of doing something.

How many people who buy these cameras really need 20 MP? No one does, but yet marketing department kept pushing for more MP because they knew it will sell on BestBuy shelves. I believe Red has been using the same marketing trick for the past 6 years with 4K. How many movies were released as 4K in the past 6 years? How many people own 4K monitors/TVs? But "4K" was still a very nice marketing theme for Red. The same marketing forces would come at consumer level. Someone mentioned youtube allows uploading 2K/4K videos. If Sony/Panasonic think "4K" sticker on a consumer camera would allow them to sell a million of them (to youtube uploaders), they will definitely do that.

And I really do think in the next 2 to 3 years, you are going to see several dozen "4K" consumer cameras. With fast memory cards, large disks, and very fast sensor, this shouldn't be that hard to implement on the next generation of consumer cameras.
I posted the above on 06-23-2012, last week .. and guess what? Under $1000 4K consumer shows up

I believe this trend is going to continue, and soon every entry-level $600 DSLR will do 4K (give it two years)

I am most often a director/DP so they take it from me. But it's not arguing, really, it's offering my expertise to help the project, and help them. I see it that way, and genuinely respect them as people, so it's never anything unpleasant or nasty.

Convenient the way that this small camera does 21 frames per second. Hummm, fairly smooth but intentionally short of 24fps. Coincidence?

It does bode well for the future camera races...

I don't know how you could compare these two except for the tiny difference in highlights. Very well done from the RED team, even though it wasn't a fair fight to begin with.
