  1. #1 RED ONE CF Cards..An life left on them?
I was wondering what I can do with my 10+ 16GB CF Cards I have laying around now that I upgraded my RED ONE to SSD.

I have zero interest in selling them for nothing...so my question is...can I use them on my DSLR's...say the 5dmkII or any other cameras out there that use CF cards to shoot movies?

I've tried to look for the specs on the cards but have not been successful. Anyone knows what speed they are rated at? If I reformat the cards on a DSLR, will I effectively screw the card never to be used on a RED ONE again? (I don't know why it should...but then again who knows)

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Yes, you can use them for your DSLRs. The red CF cards blow away most other cards in throuput.

Do you know if they are 30MB/s, 45MB/s, 60MB/s, XXXMB/s? Can't find any specs on them...

The RED 16GB CF cards work in very few devices. They have very specific firmware that only allows the card to communicate in 32bit UDMA mode and at certain block sizes. Most of your good readers will read them, but DLSRs or other media devices that need to write seem to have trouble.

If you're not using them anymore, I would suggest selling them. Plenty of people out there still using them every day.

Would it be possible to use them to store looks and presets ready to load. This would be useful on the Epic if RED ever do produce the CF adapter. Is this at all likely or have I missed an announcement somewhere.
