Of course submissions must be done as soon as they are ready to allow for further changes to be done in time... ;)

However a Black and a white version will be also needed for print and advertisement were color is not possible.

Yes for sure, however it can be either part of current design or done at a later time.

... "the end" (aka application) is usually a good starting point for all design ... :-))
