This idea of a real test has gotten out of control apparently.

Several companies have refused to participate. I guess if I were them I might consider the same thing.

Resolution is not everything. But it is something.

Dynamic range matters. So does the "feel" of the image.

    Frame rates matter.

    Size matters.

    Price matters.

    Upgrades matter.

    Support matters.

    Community matters.

We are going to take down our offer to do a comparison test at RSH. The grief and complication doesn't warrant the effort.

I hope that everyone can do some testing on their own that includes all aspects of image capture. We just aren't up for the grief. We have better things to do.

There are lots of options for you to consider. I hope that RED is one of them.

Yes, you can always rent them Jim, and do tests.

Still, the thread title is ironic.

Coach John Wooden never watch game films of the teams he was to play saying "If we execute what we practice it doesn't matter what our competitors do"

True in the 1960's at UCLA - true at RED today

Totally cool Jim. Those who know... know.

I do like "community Matters" comment.

What you guys did with the 4K competition was very inspiring. To see content delivered on those displays was what I needed to see. It would be wonderful if something like that can happen more than once a year. Leading by example always has more impact IMHO. It's better than a shoot out. It fosters community, and you get to see talent, instead of charts.

I do my "tests" on a daily basis - still love what I'm getting out of my EPIC - nothing else matters!

I'm confident Ridley Scott wouldn't shoot a movie on the second best camera. Or Fincher. Or PJ. Relax.

The tests we do each day in prep, on-set and in post do matter.

And the results we get in 1080, 720, 2k (and 4k for tests) do matter, too...

The function that makes a camera the right for a specific purpose, is so filled with uncontrollable parameters that it doesn't have any specific testing value. :)

Would have been fun to see how this test would have been conducted.

But this seems like a smart move.

I think it is a good thing for RED and our choice of using RED cameras, that the reason we are using them is based on a lot of good image qualities.

    Cheeers!
