Good, but it means that you don't work or have worked yet on a demanding set and or situation were you don't have the luxury to power down and up ever so often.

Most importantly they are situations were you absolutely need to avoid power down do to luck of power, in the middle of a SHOT.

At which point you either have both the side grip and a V Battery or AB Battery mount as well to hot swap, or you just need to power down for battery change, which in my world of course is not an option, I power down the camera when I want to, not when the camera wants to or needs to for luck of power... ;)

Have it love it. also got the quad charger and 2 xl and the side handle, putting it all together is epic on steroids.

Ordered the pro IO and can't wait to get it.

Will order +1 monitor/EVF/ power out also-
Will order Wireless video module as well.
Will order the additional SSD slot when there is firmware that can use it any fancy way, like adding lowers proxy files, inearthea moment data. HDRx layer data etc.
Will probably not order the meissler module since if it puts a halt to adding any of the above. find it odd that it's form factor is... bricked with a... brick.

I think when more modules come out, people that has their V locks screwed right to the back of the camera will regret that they did not save the quad bat. Since it so nice to have the side handle to
keep the camera alive and then be able to a charge XL's and small volts all with the same charger to keep the camera alive for a full day. We got 12 volts and 2 XL's and two travel chargers and the quad... that leaves all possible options for power....

Have a few requests though. A volt belt. Where it's possible att attach one or more volts and XL's.
19mm and 15mm volt plate that has power out. So we can add a separate volt on the rails to power perfinalia, focus motor or such. the volt plate could be universal so it can sit on the belt, rods or swat rail....

It is so bulky so uncomfortable! I see everybodies from STAGE 3 are selling it for arround 1200. It is means nobody really needs it! Whay RED produce it?
I never really understood all the complaints about the quad module. Stage two owners didnt really pay for it to begin with. It was included in a heavily discounted package.
Although its not my most used option, it definitely comes in handy. And since the reality is I got it for free with my Stage 2 Epic, Im keeping it for those instances when it could be very useful.

I think if Red would have charged us full price for stage 2 up front, then shipped the module when it was ready there would have been a lot less complaining.

    I agree fully.

I also second what others have said here already (Ketch is pretty much always on the money). There are many different types and levels of a "professional" set environment. Each with their own set of expectations and requirements. Even a single production's requirements change from location to location. Not really more to say than that. The side-handle config with nothing on the back is a godsend and a revolution in certain setups, whereas in a more studio-geared setup the quad module really comes into its own. etc etc.

I'm a drama director, many others will have many more and different reasons why more options are good for them.

I almost purchased a quad module for under 1k but after some thought I decided to go with the vmount and use the sidehandle for hotswapping. I was surprised to see that two XL volts only provide slightly more power than one 150Wh vmount brick. In the end the redvolt solution seems like a case of much ado about nothing.

Too bad they don't cost half as much?

I think a lot of people are going to regret selling these. Biggest reason I see for people selling them is because they already have battery/power solutions for their cameras and just don't see why they need another system. Too many are not giving it a chance, IMO. It's not that bulky or uncomfortable. The EPIC/SCARLET are still small cameras for what they do, even after adding the battery module. Of course, that's subjective. Many of my DSLR-shooter friends who have used my EPIC or have purchased a Scarlet don't feel that way. They think they're huge and would never touch a larger camera like an Alexa or F65. Then I also point out that they're the guys buying rigs from Zacuto and others where they add WEIGTS to the rig to add counterbalance and/or inertia to those practically weightless DSLR cameras. Battery module is a less awkward or bulky solution than sticking a large V-mount or AB battery on the back of the camera. But that's just my thoughts... Love the REDVOLT chargers too...

There's also the upcoming dual battery module too.

+1 I'm in love with my module. Works great, plus it adds more real estate to the camera for bolting on more gear :)

    I have 3 camera setups...

No. 1. is full production. all the bells and whistle, Big matt boxes, monitors, FF, preston, VLock or Battery modules, ... soon to have Mezler and what ever other modules I can stick on it. The thing is huge.

No. 2. is Half of the that... simple production.. follow focus, shoulder config....

No. 3. is my personal (home version) Camera / RED VOLT and EVF only with a slide on touch screen.. .. with some super speeds and Series 9 ND's... Tiny... simple and I hold in my hands or on a mono pod... and to be honest. my favourite camera configuration of them all.

All i want is a simple cord which plugs directly into a redvolt with minimal size so i can put the battery where i want. With a thin cord that bends everywhere. Want to take advantage of the modular. Why is something so easy, versatile and inexpensive so hard to get hold of?
